An upcoming event in White Rock will focus on safety for seniors.
The Savvy Seniors event is set to happen on Monday, May 6 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Kent Street Activity Centre in White Rock.
Aimed at a 55-plus audience, the day will offer a series of interactive workshops designed to empower older adults to stay informed, healthy and safe.
Topics will include fraud awareness, mature driving, personal safety, fire prevention, insurance, Fraser Health and emergency preparedness, with a variety of presenters.
Coffee and a bagged-style lunch are included in the free event, but pre-registration is required.

The Savvy Seniors event is a collaborative effort between White Rock RCMP, White Rock Community Policing/Victim Services, and the City of White Rock through the generous funding of Semiahmoo Community Safety Society.
Reminder: White Rock Community Policing and the Semiahmoo Community Safety Society will also be hosting their bi-annual Shred-A-Thon on Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the lane behind White Rock City Hall and the RCMP Detachment (15299 Pacific Avenue).
The event is an opportunity to shred personal documents to help prevent identity fraud.
Shredding will be courtesy of Urban Impact.
There is no set fee for the shredding service, but volunteers at the drive-through event gratefully accept donations for Semiahmoo Community Safety Society, with funds earmarked to support local community safety initiatives.
