Picking up after pooches easy to do

Editor,

I would like to highlight what I think is an error in Ann Harris’s assumption that people who leave their doggie bags on the side of a path expect “others” to pick it up.

I have been a responsible dog owner for almost 20 years, and there are many times I will leave a bag on the path because I am far from a garbage and returning the same route. I then pick up my bag and dispose of it.

Many times I return and, in fact, the bag is gone. So some kind person decided to help out.

I never “expect” someone else to pick this up for me.

At times, I will also bag and dispose of others’ dog poop left on the path. Just trying to not make all dog owners look bad.

It is unfortunate that we have these instances, as they really reflect poorly on us all.
